the pull towards what you love
“Let yourself be drawn by the stronger pull of that which you truly love.” Rumi
Watching this captain navigate the Nile with his felucca was like watching a dance; a dance between his work and his passion. He truly enjoyed the feel of the wind and how it played with the sails. Each movement determined how his boat would respond in the water.
“Do what you love” can be the best or worst career advice. It depends on what you love and how you mindfully incorporate that into a right livelihood as well as play and love. It is all about finding compromises in our choices. I have always loved to organize small travel groups combining the discovery of both new territories and inner landscapes of self.
Beyond any career advice, Rumi’s words invite us to look inside our hearts and find what truly makes us come alive. Who are the people and what circumstances revitalize our essential self?
Rumi writes, “Make a journey out of self into [your real] self…For by such a journey earth becomes a quarry of gold.” This journey enables us to discover our truest stable reality.
Wishing you the pull towards what you love.
